Russian/Bulgarian AK74 Pattern - knife has a drop point (spear) blade with slot for use as a wire cutter and resin handle with finger ridges on the grip. Handle is resin from butt to cross guard and has slot for bayonet lug and there is no provision for a wrist strap. Scabbard is resin with a wire cutter attachment and the hanger is leather with a snap hook attachment.

9 month review.
After almost a year we take a look at this hard working, strong auto opening knife from Benchmade.

We were given the chance to review the Benchmade 5000 Automatic folding knife. The 5000 Auto Presidio features a 6061 Aircraft Aluminum handle with a Patented Bi-Directional Grip Pattern which provides a Superior Grip. The handle is made with Non-Reflective Components for Tactical Applications. The Auto AXIS lock allows the knife to be used with either hand quickly. The blade is a drop point design with partial serration at 3.42 inches long and .13 inches thick and is made from 154CM stainless steel. The Benchmade 5000 Auto Presidio with its aluminum handles is a hefty 5.62 ounces and feels good in the hand with or without a glove. Another well made, and sturdy knife from one of the most popular knife makers in the USA. The 5000 Presidio was designed by Mel Pardue, the senior team member / designer for Benchmade.

The Auto AXIS lock and automatic opening with a touch of the AXIS lock is military and Law Enforcement only, but a non automatic model, the 520 Presidio, is also available with the same strong materials and workmanship

Our first impression is this is a well built, solid, light that is comfortable to wear and easy to use.

We had a chance to photograph and shoot this copy of the DBAL 1. The DBAL-I is a Visible Laser with an Infrared Laser powered by one 1.5-volt AA battery. This copy looks and works a lot like the original, but has minor differences. This unit has both lasers and a remote pressure on / off switch

On the last day of SHOT Show 2009 we mostly took video reviews of products we were most interested in. Many of the videos were taken in HD and are still being edited. Some are already posted on the internet. Here are the still images we took while walking the floor for the fourth day at SHOT Show 2009

2009 SHOT Show Day Four

We headed out to the mountains above Tucson, AZ to review gear and test some night vision equipment. The green pictures are taken through night vision in complete darkness. We were very happy with the quality and durability of this set up.
We will evaluate all these items more fully as time goes on. Stay tuned for reviews of each of these items.

For now, here is a run down on the gear in the photos, and the retail costs to equip an operator with this highest level of night fighting gear

Night Vision Gear Review

Here are some pictures of (and through) the Aries Mk238 night vision rifle-scope. The Mk-238 is an affordable night vision scope on the civilian market. The Aries MK-238 has outstanding clarity with an internal adjustment for elevation and windage to the illuminated chevron reticle designed to produce more accurate results when shooting. The Aries Mk-238 also has a built in 100 yard infra red illuminator. The scope easily mounts onto any US standard 7/8 inch weaver rail. This allows the Aries Mk238 to be the perfect night time hunting scope. Check your local game and fish regulations for legality of use for hunting in your state.
